SI E-Sign Contracts & Waivers for Shopify
Customers sign your agreement in the cart, before they pay
SI E-Sign Contracts & Waivers puts your agreement or waiver in the Shopify cart. Customers read it, type or draw their signature, and checkout waits until it is signed. You get a signed PDF on the order, and the customer gets a copy by email.
Three plans, with every feature on all three
The plans differ only in how many signed orders you get each month. Pro and Ultimate have a 90-day free trial, and all three work with or without our other apps.

Past 50 signed orders in a month on Pro, checkout is never blocked, and you get a banner. Stop the plan and no cart asks for a signature. Your signed agreements stay on each Shopify order and through the API. Prices are in US dollars, and Shopify bills them with your Shopify invoice.
The agreement sits in the cart, next to Check out
No separate form and no follow-up email. The customer reads and signs while they are already buying.
A demo pottery studio: the class needs the waiver, the glaze set doesn’t, so the agreement covers only the class.
A signature after the sale is one you have to chase
A form that arrives after the sale is easy to ignore, and a scan in a folder is hard to find when you need it.
Forms and PDFs by email
- A form goes out after the order, then a reminder when nobody signs
- Paper waivers on a clipboard at the door
- No record of which version of the terms a customer saw
- The order goes through whether it was signed or not
With SI E-Sign Contracts & Waivers
- The agreement is part of the cart
- Customers sign on their own phone or computer
- Each agreement keeps the exact terms it was signed with
- Checkout waits until it is signed
How an order gets signed
The setup guide in the app walks you through choosing who signs and adding it to your theme.
Choose who signs
Every order, or only orders with the products, collections or tags you pick.
Write your agreement
Start from a template or paste your own terms, with placeholders for the store, the date and the items covered.
Add it to your theme
Add the Agreement block to the cart page and turn on the app embed. Then add the download block to your Thank you page and the Agreement card to your order page.
Customers sign
They read the terms, type or draw their signature and tick to agree.
Checkout checks it
A cart that needs an agreement can’t be paid for until it is signed.
Keep the record
A signed PDF on the order, a copy in the customer’s inbox, and Verify when you need it.
You decide who signs, and how
Ask for a signature on every order, or only on the products that need one. Everything else in the cart stays out of it.
Every order or chosen ones
Pick up to 250 products, 100 collections and 50 product tags, or ask on every order.
Type, draw or tick
You offer typing, drawing or both, and the customer picks. For plain terms, use a consent tick with no signature at all.
Works on any phone
The signature pad takes a mouse, a finger or a pen.
Cart page and cart drawer
An app block on the cart page, and an app embed that adds a notice to cart drawers and reaches older themes.
Only what needs it
“This agreement covers” lists the items that need a signature. Other items and gift cards are left out. A cart can hold up to 80 covered products.
A changed cart asks again
Add another item that needs the agreement and the customer signs again. A signature stays valid in the cart for 3 days, and you can set 1 to 14.
Checkout waits for the signature
A Shopify Function checks every cart at checkout, so an unsigned cart can’t slip through.
Checked by Shopify checkout
The check runs in Shopify’s own checkout, also for Shop Pay and Buy it now. The theme’s checkout buttons open the agreement first.
Tied to what was signed
The signature covers the items and quantities in the cart, so adding more of them asks for a new one.
A clear message at checkout
A cart that still needs a signature stops with “Please review and sign the agreement in your cart.”
No Shopify Plus needed
It works on every Shopify plan except Starter, on the Online Store channel.
A signed PDF with a full record
Every agreement is stored with what the customer saw and what they did, and you can check it hasn’t been changed.
Signed PDF with a certificate page
Agreement and signature IDs, terms hash, signer, time, IP address, browser, method, the consent wording and the audit trail.
Tamper-evident audit trail
Each step, from opening the terms to the signed PDF and its emails, is hash-chained to the one before it.
Verify from the order
One click checks the stored PDF and the audit trail against the values recorded when it was made.
The customer’s copy
The PDF goes out by email, and customers can download it from the Thank-you and order status pages.
Every agreement in one list
Search the list, and open any agreement for its details and audit trail.
Your retention period
Keep agreements for up to 50 years, 7 by default, and keep them when a customer asks to be forgotten. If you uninstall, your data is erased 48 hours later, so download what you need first.
Your own terms, and orders taken by phone
One agreement for your store, in your words, with staff tools for orders that don’t go through the cart.
Your terms, or a template
Start from the Customer agreement or Rental agreement template, or write your own. Change them any time: signed agreements keep the old text.
Placeholders
Insert the store name and address, today’s date and the items covered. The live preview updates as you type.
Your wording in the cart
Change the panel heading, tabs and button, the agreement title and the consent line.
Signing links for draft orders
Send a link from a draft order. The customer signs on a phone or computer, and the invoice checkout accepts it. The link works for 7 days.
Shopify Flow
The Agreement signed trigger lets you tag the order, add a note or email staff.
REST and GraphQL API
Read signed agreements from your own systems, download the PDFs, verify them or send them again.
For any store that needs a signature before the sale
One agreement or waiver for your store, shown on the orders you choose.
Rentals
Rental dates, deposit and damage terms, signed in the cart.
With RentalsTours and activities
A liability waiver before the booking. With Rentals & Bookings, every guest can get a signing link.
Liability waiverClasses and fitness
Ask only on the class products, by product, collection or tag.
Class waiverBeauty and tattoo studios
A consent form typed or drawn on the customer’s phone.
Consent formCustom work
Order terms signed from an emailed link on phone orders.
Order termsEvents and venues
Just a tick box, and checkout still waits for it.
Terms and conditionsOn its own, or with our rental app
The app needs no other app. If SI Rentals & Bookings is on the same store, turn on the link in Settings and the agreement can use its data.
What the link adds
OptionalOff by default. The app reads no rental data until you switch it on.
- A third choice in Who signs: carts with rentals
- Rental dates and times on the agreement and the PDF
- Placeholders for the rental dates and your late fee policy
- Each guest signs: a link for every named guest on a booking
What’s included
- Agreements signed online, with a signed PDF and audit trail
- Consent wording and a tamper-evident audit trail of every signing step
- A certificate page on the signed PDF, and a check that it has not been changed
- Customers type or draw their signature, also on a phone
- Your own agreement text, with placeholders
- Signed PDF emailed to the customer and downloadable from the order
- Agreement card on the Shopify order
Questions about SI E-Sign Contracts & Waivers
When can I install it?
Soon, but we don’t have a date to share yet. The app is built and goes to the Shopify App Store for review before it is listed.
Do I need Rentals & Bookings?
No. The app works on any Shopify store. If you also use Rentals & Bookings, you can link the two and sign for rentals with their dates.
Is the signature legally binding?
We can’t answer that for you: it depends on your country and your document, so ask your lawyer. What the app gives you is the record. The signed PDF shows what was agreed, who signed, when and how, and its certificate page and Verify show it hasn’t been changed.
Can each product have its own agreement?
No. There is one agreement per store. You choose which orders it applies to, by product, collection or tag, or every order.
Which Shopify plans does it work on?
Every plan except Starter, on the Online Store channel. You don’t need Shopify Plus.
Can customers skip it with an express checkout button?
The buttons themselves can’t be held, but checkout still stops a cart without a signed agreement. Turn off Buy it now on products that need an agreement.
Can I change my terms after customers have signed?
Yes. New signatures use the new terms, and each signed agreement keeps the exact text it was signed with.
How long are signed agreements kept?
For the period you set, up to 50 years, with 7 years as the default. Signatures that never became an order are removed after 30 days. If you uninstall, download what you need first: your data is erased 48 hours later.
How do phone orders work?
Make a draft order and press Send signing link. The customer gets an email with a link that works for 7 days, and once they sign, the invoice checkout accepts the order.
Can the agreement be in another language?
Yes, for most of it. You write your own terms and can change the wording customers see in the cart. The checkout message stays in English, and the labels on the PDF and the emails can’t be changed.
What happens past 50 signed orders on Pro?
Checkout is never blocked, and you get a banner in the app. Ultimate has no monthly limit.
What happens if I cancel the plan?
Carts stop asking for a signature and checkout is no longer held. Your signed agreements stay on each Shopify order and through the API.
Works alongside our other apps
Each app stands on its own, so a store adds only what it needs.
Read the guide before you install
