Looking for the best WooCommerce rental plugin? We tested nine paid rental and booking plugins for WooCommerce, together worth over $2,000 for one site’s first year. Each one got the same tests on the same shop, from taking a booking to checking the rental back in, and we compare them side by side.
If you rent out tents, bikes or kayaks, or you run tours, your booking plugin decides how much of the work your website does: stock by date, deposits, check-out and check-in, late fees and reminders. This is the written version of the video above: what each plugin did on the product page and at the rental desk, the full scorecard, the real cost, and which one to pick for which kind of business.
The short version. Sales Igniter Rentals & Bookings (ours) passed all 16 tests. The closest were Tyche Booking & Appointment with 10 and Kestrel Rental Products with 8. On the four rows that matter most to a rental shop (send and return, barcodes, late fees and buffers by shipping method), no other plugin got a yes; the best was a partial. If you take appointments or short bookings, several of these plugins will get you there.

How we tested 9 paid WooCommerce rental plugins
The test shop is Brightside Rentals, a WooCommerce store with four rentals:
- A 20×40 party tent: three in stock, rented by the day at $250 a day.
- A touring kayak: by the hour or by the day.
- A mountain bike that costs more at weekends.
- A sunset kayak tour: set departures, with adult and child tickets.

Every plugin got the same 16 tests: making and changing orders in the admin, send and return, barcodes and serials, custom fields, text messages, tours, the calendar’s look and its types, late fees, part payments and buffers by shipping method. Each mark on the scorecard says how we know it: we tried it on the test shop, or it comes from the vendor’s own docs.

Each plugin ran on our own test shop with the vendor’s own files, one at a time, except Tyche, which we tested on a Tyche demo site. RnB was tested as the core plugin on its own, without its paid add-ons. The tests ran on 26 October 2026. Prices are the vendors’ list prices for one site’s first year, read the same day (YITH in euros, at 1.1193 USD, no tax).
The bill: $2,041 for eight paid rental plugins
Here’s the bill. Eight paid plugins, each with the add-ons it needs for deposits and text messages, where it has them. For one site’s first year, that comes to $2,041. RnB is in it at $29, its last listed price, paid once. Sales Igniter isn’t in the bill: our prices are further down.
| Plugin and what’s in the price | First year |
|---|---|
| WooCommerce Bookings$249 a year, + Deposits $219, + Twilio SMS $49 | $517 |
| RnB (RedQ)Last listed price, one-time | $29 |

| PluginHive Bookings and Appointments$149, + PH Deposits $99 | $248 |
| Plugin Republic Bookings$79, + Deposits and Part Payments $79 | $158 |
| Tyche Booking & AppointmentDeposits and SMS built in | $199 |
| Kestrel Rental ProductsOne site; security deposits built in | $199 |
| Total, eight pluginsYITH in euros at 1.1193 USD; no tax | $2,041 |
Even upgraded, five of the eight still can’t send a text message: RnB, JetBooking, PluginHive, Plugin Republic and Kestrel.

1. Sales Igniter Rentals & Bookings (ours)
We start with our own plugin, Sales Igniter Rentals & Bookings for WooCommerce, the Regular edition.
Setting up: price tables, serials and buffers
Every rental product gets a Rentals & Bookings box. The party tent is rented by date, at $250 a day, with a weekly rate in the same price table.

Stock is three tents, each with its own serial number, and one day is blocked after every booking, for cleaning and drying. The kayak has an hourly rate and a daily rate on the same item. The bike costs more on Saturdays and Sundays. And the tour has adult and child prices, with twelve seats. More on rental rates, part payments and late fees.
On the product page: a price and units left on every day
On the product page, the customer picks a start and an end date, and each day shows its price and how many are left. The kayak picks a date, then the times. The bike shows its weekend price on Saturday and Sunday. And the tour shows only its departure days, then the tickets: two adults and a child, $127.

The Calendar Styler changes the calendar’s look without code: the style, your colours, bold numbers, the corner radius, the price on each day and the units left, with a live preview, on a phone too. See the booking calendar and search features.

Part payments at checkout and text message reminders
At checkout, the customer can pay part now and the rest later. Here it’s a 25% booking deposit, and the balance is due before the rental starts, with a payment link by email.

Reminders go out by text message or by WhatsApp. You write each message, choose what it includes, and send a test from the same screen.

The rental desk: phone orders, date changes and swaps
Now the rental desk. A customer phones in, so we make the order in the admin. The rental line opens a date picker, and the price for the dates fills in.

A fourth tent for the same weekend? There are only three, so the line is flagged before the order is saved.

Then plans change. Edit dates checks the stock again and works out the new price: one more day takes the tent from $500 to $750.

Swap item moves the booking to another product for the same dates, here the 20×30 tent, at its own price: $600. And every change is written in the order notes.

Send and return with barcodes, and late fees
When the tent goes out, scan its barcode on the send screen. The right serial number is picked for you, and the tent is marked as sent.

When it comes back, the return screen takes a condition note, and the history shows who sent and returned each unit, and when. Barcode labels print straight from the serial list. More on stock, serials and barcodes.
This mountain bike came back more than a day late. Checking it in works out the late fee: two days at $35, $70. Staff review the fee first. Accept it, and the customer gets a link to pay it.

Buffers by shipping method
Shipping takes time, so the buffer depends on how the tent travels. Picked up, it can still go out in the days just before its next booking. By transport, those days are greyed out, because it needs three days each way.
Each shipping option can have its own days. At checkout, only Express is offered for these dates, and the plan says why: Ground would bring the tent back after its next booking starts. More on locations and delivery.

Tours: departures, guides and a manifest
Tours run on departures. Staff have skills and working hours, and this tour needs one guide for every eight guests. Auto-fill picks a guide who’s free and has the skill.
The departures list shows the seats taken, the manifest lists every guest with their order and phone number, and one click checks in the whole party. And the customer gets a QR ticket in their account. More on tours and activities.

Pro and Ultimate: deposits, contracts, custom fields and locations
A few things come with Pro and Ultimate. Pro adds a refundable security deposit, $300 on the tent, and an optional damage waiver. Custom fields can carry a price, like a $75 lighting package.
The rental agreement is signed on the phone at checkout, and the order keeps the signed PDF, next to the deposit you can refund or keep. More on deposits, contracts and waivers.

Ultimate adds stock by location: pick up the bike in Lakeview and return it in Saratoga Springs. And a maintenance ticket, opened from a serial number, takes that tent out of stock until it’s fixed.

Everything else is on the full rental feature list, and you can click through it all on the live demo.
2. WooCommerce Bookings
WooCommerce Bookings price and setup
WooCommerce Bookings is $249 a year for one site. Deposits are a separate extension, $219, and text messages need the Twilio extension, $49 more.

The tent books in blocks of one day: three per block, a one-day buffer, and $250 a day, with a cost rule for the week rate. The kayak’s day rate is a rule too: five to eight hours cost $60.
On the product page
On the product page, Friday to Sunday counts as three days: $750. There’s no quantity box, so two tents are two cart lines and two bookings.
In the admin
In the admin, Add Booking makes the order from the same calendar, and for a fourth tent the weekend is fully booked, so stock is checked.

Changes are weaker: Reschedule keeps the original price, the plain date fields skip the stock check, and switching the product leaves the order still charging for the tent.

Quick fire
- Send and return: only Attended or Unattended.
- Serials and barcodes: no, a resource is a name and a quantity.
- Text messages: email only; SMS is the separate Twilio extension.
- Calendar styling: no colour settings.
WooCommerce Bookings verdict
WooCommerce Bookings suits appointments, classes and tours. For rentals that go out and come back, the desk work stays with you. Our marks: 7 yes, 1 partial, 5 no, 3 paid add-on or not verified.

Side by side with ours: a WooCommerce Bookings alternative for rentals.
3. RnB: WooCommerce Booking & Rental Plugin (RedQ)
RnB price and setup
RnB, from RedQ, is in the bill at $29, its last listed price, paid once. Seasonal pricing, admin bookings and order extensions are paid add-ons on top: Seasonal Pricing $95, Backend Booking $49 and Extend Order $49. We tested the core plugin on its own.

Stock lives on an inventory. The tent’s inventory has three in stock and a day-range price: $250 a day, and $1,000 for seven days. The product picks that inventory, and its settings block one day after each booking.
On the product page
On the product page, customers pick a time as well as a date, and days are counted in 24 hours from pickup. So Friday morning to Sunday evening is three days. There’s a quantity box, so two tents are one booking: $1,500.

In the admin
In the admin, a new order takes the tent with no dates, so it holds no stock. Bookings from the admin are a separate add-on, Backend Booking. So with a phone order in the admin, the website still sold a fourth tent for that weekend. Changing the dates means editing text on the order: no new price and no stock check. And a swap is a delete and a new line, with no dates at all.

Quick fire
- Send and return: no, only a Clear Dates link.
- Late fees: no; Max Hour Late is a grace time when booking.
- Part payment: 25% up front, but the balance is only a note on the order.
- Tours: adult and child prices, but places count bookings, not people.
RnB verdict
RnB covers stock and day prices on the website, for a one-time price. But admin bookings are a paid add-on, and there’s no send and return and no late fees. Our marks: 3 yes, 4 partial, 6 no, 3 paid add-on or not verified.

Side by side with ours: an RnB alternative for WooCommerce rentals.
4. JetBooking (Crocoblock)
JetBooking price and setup
JetBooking, from Crocoblock, is $75 a year on its own, or $199 in the All-Inclusive pack of Jet plugins. The pack is the one in the bill. There’s no deposit or text message add-on to buy.

JetBooking was built for hotels and apartments. Stock is a list of units: Party Tent one, two and three. The price is per day or per night: $250. A weekly price is a day rate from seven days on: $142.86. There’s no hourly price, so the kayak can only be $60 a day. And the only buffer is a time buffer, in hours, set once for every product.
On the product page
On the product page, Friday to Sunday counts as three days: $750 a tent. Two tents become two bookings, one on each unit: $1,500.
In the admin
In the admin, Add New picks the tent and the dates on a calendar that knows what’s booked, and it can create the order. But the order has no customer: it’s a guest order with no address, and it says paid.

With three tents out, the website shows the weekend as sold out, so there’s no fourth tent. Edit Booking moved the return to Monday, and with recalculate on, the order went up to $1,000. Swapping it for the 20×30 tent worked too: $800, with a note on the order. Each time, the order says paid in full, with no balance and no refund.

Quick fire
- Send and return: no, only booking statuses.
- Text messages: no, emails and webhooks only.
- Times: one time picker for every product, and the time doesn’t change the price.
- Tours: guests and a child price, but no time slot, and the twelve places count bookings, not people.
JetBooking verdict
JetBooking checks stock by date everywhere, and its edit screen re-prices the order, even for a swap. But it’s built for nights, not rentals: no hourly price, no day buffer, no deposits, and nothing for send and return. Our marks: 5 yes, 5 partial, 6 no, 0 paid add-on or not verified.

5. YITH Booking and Appointment
YITH Booking price and setup
YITH Booking and Appointment is €249.99 a year, about $280. Deposits are another YITH plugin, €129.99, and SMS Notifications, which texts when an order changes status, is €59.99. All three come to $492 in the bill.

YITH puts its extras in modules, all included: people, services and extra costs. The tent is a bookable product with three bookings a day, but no units, and one buffer day either side. Prices are a base price plus rules. A weekly rule sets seven days to $1,000, but only seven: eight days cost $2,000. The kayak is $15 an hour, and from four hours a rule makes it $60 for the day, but it can’t go past one day. And the bike’s Saturday and Sunday are $50.
On the product page
On the product page, Friday to Sunday is three days: $750. There’s no quantity box, so two tents are two bookings: $1,500. Eight hours in the kayak come to $60. The tour opens only on Fridays and Saturdays at five, with adult and child counters: two adults and a child, $127. And seats really count: ten more people are refused, with nine places left.

In the admin
In the admin, Create Booking picks the customer, the tent and the dates, and makes the order, but with no address and no dates on the order line. Sold-out and buffer days are struck out, so there’s no fourth tent, here or on the website.
Edit Booking is another story: its calendar doesn’t know what’s booked. Moving the return to Monday made four days, but the booking and the order stayed at $750. Emily’s booking moved onto the sold-out weekend with no warning: four tents on three. The product can’t be changed, so there’s no swap. And WooCommerce’s own Add order refuses bookable products.

Quick fire
- Send and return: no, booking statuses only.
- Barcodes: no, it counts bookings, not units.
- Text messages: only with the SMS plugin, on order updates.
- Calendar styling: yes: eight colours, the font size, drop-down or inline.
- Late fees: no.
YITH verdict
YITH is strong for tours and appointments: people types, seats that count, and price rules for almost anything. For a rental shop, editing a booking skips the stock and the price, and there’s no send and return, no barcodes and no late fees. Our marks: 7 yes, 3 partial, 4 no, 2 paid add-on or not verified.

Side by side with ours: a YITH Booking alternative for rentals.
6. PluginHive Bookings and Appointments for WooCommerce
PluginHive price and setup
PluginHive Bookings and Appointments is $149 a year for one site. Deposits are a separate PluginHive plugin, $99 more.

The tent books in blocks of one day, three per block. After each booking, one day is blocked as a buffer. Each block costs $250, and a cost rule sets the week price. To book two tents at once, they’re set up as participants, labelled Tents.
On the product page
On the product page, Friday to Sunday counts as three days. Two tents come to $1,500, $750 each.
In the admin
In the admin, Add Booking makes the order from the same calendar, and for a fourth tent the weekend is greyed out, so stock is checked. Modify Booking is a beta you switch on first. It moves the dates and re-prices the order, with a payment link.

There’s no product field, though: a swap is a second booking and a cancel, and the order still charges for the tent.

Quick fire
- Send and return: no, there’s no out or returned status.
- Text messages: email reminders only.
- Calendar styling: yes, three designs with colour settings.
- Tours: a fixed two-hour block, with adult and child prices.
PluginHive verdict
PluginHive suits hourly bookings, classes and tours, with a calendar you can style. For rental stock going out and coming back, there’s no send and return. Our marks: 7 yes, 3 partial, 4 no, 2 paid add-on or not verified.

7. Plugin Republic Bookings for WooCommerce
Plugin Republic price and setup
Plugin Republic’s Bookings for WooCommerce is $79 a year for one site. Deposits and part payments are a separate plugin, $79 more.

There’s no stock field: max bookings per unit is the stock, three tents. The tent is $250 a day, and a discount rule makes seven days $1,000. One buffer day follows each booking.
On the product page and at checkout
On the product page, Friday to Sunday counts as three days: two tents, $1,500. But with WooCommerce’s default checkout, a placed order gave its dates back. With three tents already sold, the website sold two more for the same weekend. The older classic checkout kept the dates.

In the admin
In the admin, Add New Booking shows what’s left each day, then makes the order. On a full weekend, a fourth tent can’t be picked, so stock is checked there. Edit booking moves the dates and re-prices the booking, but the order keeps the old dates and $750. There’s no swap: a booking for the 20×30 tent can’t join the first tent’s order, and cancelling the first tent cancels the whole order.

Quick fire
- Send and return: partly. There are In Progress, Overdue and Completed statuses, but a bike that never came back was marked Completed on its own.
- Text messages: email reminders only.
- Calendar styling: yes, five themes with custom colours.
- Tours: one price per seat. Child prices need another Plugin Republic plugin.
Plugin Republic verdict
Plugin Republic is good value for day and hourly bookings, with a calendar you can style. For rental stock, the default checkout gap, no swaps and no late fees hold it back. Our marks: 6 yes, 4 partial, 4 no, 2 paid add-on or not verified.

8. Tyche Booking & Appointment
Tyche price and setup
Tyche Booking and Appointment is $199 a year for one site, with deposits, text messages and seasonal prices built in. We tested it on a Tyche demo site.

The tent is a Multiple Nights booking: three per date, one later day blocked, and a $200 security deposit.
On the product page
On the product page, Friday to Sunday counts as three days: $750, plus the deposit, $950.
In the admin
In the admin, Create Booking opens a date picker, and for a fourth tent the full days are greyed out, so stock is checked.

But with a quantity of two, the order charged for one tent. Edit Booking changes the dates and re-prices the order, but the product can’t be changed, so there’s no swap.

Quick fire
- Text messages: built in, through Twilio, SMS only.
- Tours: fixed times, with adult and child prices.
- Hourly and daily on one kayak: no, it’s one or the other.
- Send and return: there’s no check-out or check-in step, only lists of today’s check-ins.
Tyche verdict
Tyche suits shops that take bookings and appointments and want a lot in one plan. For stock going out and coming back, it stops short. Our marks: 10 yes, 1 partial, 2 no, 3 paid add-on or not verified.

Side by side with ours: a Tyche Booking & Appointment alternative for rentals.
9. Kestrel Rental Products for WooCommerce
Kestrel price and setup
Kestrel’s Rental Products is $199 a year, with security deposits and bundles built in. There’s no text message add-on, and part payments need a plugin from another company.

Kestrel is built for rentals, with its own rental box on each product. Stock is rental stock, in and out: three tents. The tent is $250 a day, and a total override makes seven days $1,000, but only seven: eight days cost $2,000. One return day follows each rental. A product is priced by the day or by the hour, not both, so a whole day in the kayak is $120. And there’s no weekend price: the bike’s Saturday and Sunday are $70.
On the product page
On the product page, Friday to Sunday is three days: two tents, $1,500, and the return date shows too. Those dates held through WooCommerce’s default checkout: with two tents out, the weekend is locked for anyone wanting two more.

In the admin
In the admin, Add rental product works on a saved order: pick the tent, the quantity and the dates, and the line is priced at once. The calendar doesn’t show what’s left, but a fourth tent is refused when you add it, with a box to apply it anyway. Edit rental moved the return to Monday and re-priced the order to $1,000.

A swap is three steps: cancel the tent, add the 20×30 tent, then delete the first tent’s line and recalculate, or the order still charges for both.
Quick fire
- Send and return: partly. Mark as returned clears a late rental from the dashboard’s flagged list, but there’s no send-out step.
- Late fees: no.
- Text messages: no.
- Tours: one price per seat, with no child price.
Kestrel verdict
Kestrel was made for rentals: stock by date, a return date, deposits, bundles and an overdue list. For a rental shop, the gaps are no late fees, no text messages, no barcodes, and swaps that leave the money to you. Our marks: 8 yes, 3 partial, 3 no, 2 paid add-on or not verified.

The scorecard: 9 WooCommerce rental plugins, 16 tests
Here’s the scorecard: sixteen tests, nine plugins. A solid mark means we tried it on the test shop. A dashed one comes from the vendor’s own docs.

A solid mark: we tried it on the test shop. A dashed mark: from the vendor’s own docs. Not found: we could not find it in the plugin or its docs.
Four rows matter most to a rental shop: send and return, barcodes, late fees and shipping buffers. No other plugin gets a yes in any of them. The best is a partial.

Sales Igniter passes all sixteen. The closest, Tyche, passes ten, and Kestrel eight. For a longer feature-by-feature list, see our WooCommerce rental plugin comparison chart.
The bill, again, and what Sales Igniter costs
Back to the bill. The upgraded sets come to $2,041, and five of them still can’t send a text message.

WooCommerce rental plugin FAQ
It depends what you rent out. In our test of nine paid plugins, Sales Igniter Rentals & Bookings (ours) passed all 16 tests; the closest were Tyche Booking & Appointment with 10 and Kestrel Rental Products with 8. For a rental shop where stock goes out and comes back, look at send and return, barcodes, late fees and buffers by shipping method: no other plugin got a yes in any of those rows. For appointments, classes and tours, WooCommerce Bookings, YITH Booking and Appointment and PluginHive will get you there.
For one site’s first year, at the list prices we read on 26 October 2026: WooCommerce Bookings $249 (plus $219 for Deposits and $49 for Twilio SMS), JetBooking $75 on its own or $199 in the All-Inclusive pack, YITH Booking and Appointment €249.99 (plus €129.99 for deposits and €59.99 for SMS), PluginHive $149 (plus $99 for deposits), Plugin Republic $79 (plus $79 for deposits and part payments), Tyche $199 and Kestrel $199. RnB’s last listed price is $29, one-time, with paid add-ons on top. With the add-ons, the eight come to $2,041. Sales Igniter Regular is $199 with code 150regular.
In our test, only Sales Igniter Rentals & Bookings had a full send and return step, with barcode scanning and a history of who sent and returned each unit. Plugin Republic and Kestrel got a partial: Plugin Republic has In Progress, Overdue and Completed statuses, but a bike that never came back was marked Completed on its own, and Kestrel’s Mark as returned clears a late rental from its flagged list, with no send-out step. WooCommerce Bookings has only Attended or Unattended, and the others have booking statuses or lists of today’s check-ins.
With most of them, yes: Sales Igniter, WooCommerce Bookings, JetBooking, YITH, PluginHive, Plugin Republic, Tyche and Kestrel all make an admin order with a calendar, and RnB needs its paid Backend Booking add-on. The differences show when plans change. Sales Igniter and JetBooking re-price a date change and a swap. Kestrel re-prices a date change but leaves a swap’s money to you. PluginHive’s Modify Booking (a beta) and Tyche’s Edit Booking re-price a date change, but neither can swap the product. WooCommerce Bookings’ Reschedule keeps the original price, YITH’s Edit Booking skips the stock and the price, and Plugin Republic re-prices the booking but not the order.
Sales Igniter sends reminders by text message or WhatsApp, included in Regular. Tyche has text messages built in, through Twilio, SMS only. WooCommerce Bookings needs the separate Twilio extension ($49) and YITH its SMS Notifications plugin (€59.99), which texts on order updates. RnB, JetBooking, PluginHive, Plugin Republic and Kestrel had no text messages in our test.
WooCommerce Bookings suits appointments, classes and tours. In our rental test, Add Booking checked stock, but Reschedule kept the original price, the plain date fields skipped the stock check, and switching the product left the order still charging for the tent. It has no send and return and no serials or barcodes, and SMS is the separate Twilio extension. With Deposits and Twilio SMS it comes to $517 for one site’s first year.
Yes. Sales Igniter Rentals & Bookings Lite is free, with no time limit. We tested it against six other free plugins in 7 free WordPress rental plugins, tested.
