RnB Alternative | WooCommerce Rental Plugin With Serial Tracking

RnB is the best-selling rental plugin on CodeCanyon and, at its price, it is genuinely good value. If you are comparing it with Sales Igniter, the honest headline is this: RnB is far cheaper, and for a lot of rental businesses that settles it. What follows is where the two actually differ.

What RnB does well

RnB (by redqteam) has 12,596 sales and a 4.47-star rating from 202 reviews on CodeCanyon — that is a large, long-running user base, and it did not get there by accident. Its listing advertises unlimited rental products, hourly, daily, monthly and distance-based pricing, inventory management with variations, calendar blocking, opening and closing hours, request-a-quote, security deposit handling, full or partial payments, coupons, Google Calendar sync, WPML support, and the ability to block days before and after a booking for turnaround.

That is a real feature set. Anyone telling you RnB is a toy has not read the listing.

LicencePriceWhat it includes

At $29 with six months of support, RnB is roughly a tenth of the cost of a Sales Igniter Regular licence. We are not going to pretend otherwise, and no five-year cost table is going to change it — both are one-time purchases, and RnB’s is smaller.

Why rental businesses look for an RnB alternative

The businesses that outgrow RnB tend to do so for one reason: they stop needing a booking calendar and start needing a warehouse system. The RnB listing does not advertise barcode or serial-number tracking, condition reports on return, signed PDF rental agreements, or subscription and membership models. If your operation depends on any of those, that is the line.

  • You need to know which unit went out. Camera bodies, power tools, ski sets and vehicles are not interchangeable once one has a fault, a service record or an insurance schedule listing it by serial. That needs per-unit tracking with barcode check-out and check-in, not a quantity counter.
  • You need a condition trail. Recording what came back damaged, against the specific line it came back on, is what makes a deposit deduction defensible rather than an argument.
  • You need a signed contract. Hire agreements and liability waivers generated from the order and signed online before collection, then stored with a timestamp.
  • You rent on subscription. Recurring hire, memberships with allowances, and a rental queue for a waiting list of members are a different commercial model entirely.
  • You are moving to, or from, Magento 2. The same rental engine ships as a Magento 2 rental booking extension, so the platform decision is not also a software decision.

Packages, bundles and composite products

Plenty of rental businesses do not sell one item at a time. A camera kit is a body, two lenses, a rig and four batteries. A beach hire is two loungers, a parasol and a cool box. A wedding package is a marquee plus flooring plus two hundred chairs. Whether your software can sell that as a single product — while still tracking each component as its own rental stock — decides whether packages are a selling point or a source of oversells.

RnB’s CodeCanyon listing advertises support for WooCommerce variations — different sizes or colours of the same product — but does not mention bundles, composite products, packages or kits. Variations and bundles solve different problems: a variation is one item in one of several forms, while a bundle is several distinct items, each with its own stock count, going out together.

That distinction matters more in rental than in retail. When you sell a bundle, stock decrements once and the transaction is done. When you rent one, every component has to be checked against the date range independently, held for the hire plus its own turnaround, and released back separately — because the chairs come back Sunday and the marquee comes back Tuesday.

Sales Igniter handles packages as core rental behaviour. The customer sees one product, one price and one set of dates; behind it, each component draws down its own real stock for its own period. Book the wedding package when you own three marquees and you have two left — visible immediately on the product page, the inventory report and the bookings calendar. Components can be optional or swappable where you allow it, so a customer who declines the flooring leaves it available for someone else.

Frequently asked questions

Can I migrate from RnB?

Your products, customers and orders are standard WooCommerce records and stay where they are. Rental configuration is stored differently by each plugin, so product rental settings and forward bookings need re-creating rather than importing.

Do both give me the source code?

Both are self-hosted WordPress plugins installed on your own server. Sales Igniter ships as open source rental software with the full source and no per-booking fee. For RnB’s exact licence terms, read the CodeCanyon Regular Licence, which permits one end product and does not allow resale.
