Booqable is the best-known rental booking platform on the market, and for a lot of businesses it is a perfectly good product. The reason people go looking for a Booqable alternative is almost never that it does not work — it is that the monthly bill never stops, the storefront is not really theirs, and the add-ons add up faster than expected.
What Booqable does well
A comparison page that pretends the competitor is bad is not worth reading, so here is the honest version. Booqable is a real product with real strengths:
- Genuinely excellent user experience. It is clean, modern and easy to learn, and you can be taking bookings the same afternoon.
- No technical skill required. Nothing to install, no server to maintain, no developer needed to get started.
- Strong mobile apps and an AI rental assistant on all plans.
- Hosted and managed, so patching, uptime and backups are somebody else’s problem.
- No commission on bookings, which is unusual and genuinely to their credit — several rivals do take a percentage.
Booqable pricing at a glance
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Start | $29/mo billed annually ($35 monthly) | Orders, inventory, quotes, contracts, invoices, real-time availability |
| Grow | $69/mo billed annually ($87 monthly) | Adds 5 users, e-signatures, advanced pricing rules, API access |
| Scale | $149/mo billed annually ($187 monthly) | Adds 10 users, activity logs, extra locations, 2FA |
| Add-ons | $9–$37/mo each | Mobile POS, barcode scanning, deliveries, rental website builder, extra locations |
Source: booqable.com/pricing, read August 2026. Booqable charges no commission on bookings. Note that the rental website builder, barcode scanning, mobile POS and additional locations are priced as separate add-ons on top of the plan fee.
Why rental businesses look for a Booqable alternative
- The bill never ends. On the Grow plan you will have paid more than $4,000 by year five and you still do not own anything.
- The storefront is not really your website. Booqable embeds into your site or gives you a hosted one, but the rental experience lives on their platform — and the website builder is a paid add-on on top of your plan.
- Add-ons stack up. Barcode scanning, mobile POS, deliveries and each extra location are separate monthly charges. A modest multi-location operation can double its effective plan cost.
- Per-user pricing punishes growth. Extra seats mean higher tiers, so hiring counter staff raises your software bill.
- You cannot change the software. It is closed source. If you need behaviour the roadmap does not cover, you wait — or you leave.
- Your data lives on their servers. Migrating away means an export and a rebuild.
Sales Igniter: the open-source Booqable alternative
Sales Igniter is not a hosted service you rent. It is a rental booking engine that installs into a store you already own — either as the WooCommerce bookings and rentals plugin for WordPress, or as the Magento 2 rental booking extension for Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source. You buy it once, you get the complete source code, and it runs on your own hosting.
That is the whole difference in one sentence: with Booqable you are renting software and your storefront lives on their infrastructure; with Sales Igniter you own the software and the storefront is your own website.
- One-time licence, not a subscription. $279 for the Regular WooCommerce plugin, $419 for Pro. Support and updates are included for a year and renewable at $299/year — but the plugin keeps working whether you renew or not.
- No commission, ever. No percentage of your bookings, no per-transaction cut, no revenue share. Your payment gateway’s fee is the only fee.
- No per-user or per-location pricing. Unlimited admin accounts, unlimited products, unlimited customers and orders on every licence.
- 100% open source. Readable PHP, JavaScript and MySQL. Any developer you hire can extend it — you are never waiting on a vendor roadmap for a feature your business needs.
- It is your website. The booking calendar lives on your domain, in your theme, feeding your SEO and your analytics — not on a subdomain of somebody else’s platform.
- Your data stays in your database. Customers, orders, contracts and card tokens sit in your own MySQL install. Nothing to export and nothing held hostage if you leave.

What it actually costs over five years
Subscription pricing is easy to underestimate because the number is small each month. Here is the same decision expressed as a five-year total, using published list prices as of August 2026.
| Option | Five-year total | What drives the number |
|---|---|---|
| Sales Igniter WooCommerce Regular | $279 (no renewals) | One-time licence; plugin keeps working forever |
| Sales Igniter WooCommerce Regular + renewals | $1,475 | $279 once, then $299/year for continued support and updates |
| Sales Igniter WooCommerce Pro + renewals | $1,615 | $419 once, then $299/year; includes deposits, contracts, subscriptions |
| Booqable Start (annual billing) | $1,740 | $29/mo × 60 months |
| Booqable Grow (annual billing) | $4,140 | $69/mo × 60 months, before add-ons |
| Booqable Scale (annual billing) | $8,940 | $149/mo × 60 months, before add-ons |
Even against Booqable’s cheapest tier, a Sales Igniter licence that you renew every single year still costs less over five years — and at the end of it you own the software and the store. If you never renew, the gap is roughly six-fold against the Start plan and thirty-fold against Scale.
When Booqable is the better choice
We would rather you buy the right thing than buy ours. Booqable is genuinely the better fit in a few situations:
- You do not have a website yet and do not want to run one. Booqable will get you trading faster than anything else.
- You have no developer access and no appetite for hosting, updates or backups.
- You are a one- or two-person operation where $29 a month is genuinely cheaper than the time cost of setting up WordPress.
- You want native iOS and Android apps for your team on day one.
If none of those describe you — and especially if you already run a WordPress or Magento site and object to paying a subscription forever for software you never own — then it is worth thirty minutes of your time to look at Sales Igniter.
Frequently asked questions
Is Sales Igniter really a one-time payment?
Yes. You buy the plugin or extension once. Support and updates are included for the first year and can be renewed at $299/year if you want them, but the software carries on working on your site whether or not you renew. There is no kill switch and no subscription.
Can I move my data out of Booqable?
Booqable lets you export your data, and products, customers and order history can be imported into WooCommerce or Magento 2 by spreadsheet. Availability and forward bookings usually need to be re-entered or scripted — we can advise on the migration.
Do I need a developer to run Sales Igniter?
Not to run it. You need a working WordPress or Magento site and somewhere to host it, and the Pro licence includes free installation and a training session. You only need a developer if you want to customise behaviour beyond the settings — which is the point of it being open source.
Does Sales Igniter take a percentage of my bookings?
No. There is no commission, no revenue share and no per-transaction fee of any kind. The only transaction cost is whatever your payment gateway charges, and you choose the gateway — Stripe, PayPal, Braintree and Authorize.net are all supported.
How does Booqable’s free trial compare?
Booqable offers 14 days free with no card required. Sales Igniter has a permanently available live demo store you can book in without signing up at all, so you can evaluate the booking flow before you spend anything.
