The competitor

What TWICE Commerce is, and who it is for

TWICE Commerce is hosted software from Twice Commerce Oy in Helsinki, Finland.10 Its founders started building it in 2018,8 and it was called Rentle until it added resale and took its current name.9 It handles rentals, sales, subscriptions and buybacks of the same stock21, for businesses from ski shops to construction equipment and clothing subscriptions.4

It runs stock, pricing, orders, payments and reports, and sells through its own built-in online store on a TWICE subdomain or your own domain.34 Widgets and WordPress and Wix plugins put that store on another website, and its API can drive a storefront you build yourself.4

Its pricing page charges per location: $116 a month for the first location on the Standard tier, the second also at half the list rate and each one after that at the full rate. Standard adds 1.5% of each payment processed through TWICE, Enterprise has negotiated rates, and both include every feature. Prices are set in euros, with TWICE’s own dollar conversion.2 Card payments go through Stripe, built into TWICE, and Stripe’s processing fees come on top.3

Every unit tracked on its own, with its condition, location, income and expenses, and stock, pricing and availability synced in real time across the online store and retail locations to prevent double bookings.11

Online store

A built-in online store with a theme editor, on a TWICE subdomain or your own domain, with fulfilment options at checkout and several store locations in one storefront.34

Contracts and signatures

Digital contracts and e-signatures, set per product or order type and sent automatically during booking, so there is no paper to scan or chase.4

Pricing and payments

Rates by the minute to the month, seasonal and customer-segment pricing, kit-based bundles, upfront deposits, instalment billing and subscriptions, with online payments through Stripe.4

An Admin API with API keys, signed webhooks and bulk calls, an MCP server for AI tools, and workflows that send emails or HTTP requests.2

Sales Igniter: rental booking inside a store you own

Sales Igniter is not a hosted service you rent. It is a rental booking engine that installs into an online store, as a WooCommerce plugin for WordPress, a Magento 2 extension, or an app for Shopify.42

On WooCommerce and Magento you buy it once, get the complete source code and run it on your own hosting, with unlimited staff logins, products, customers and orders.42 On Shopify it is an app billed monthly or yearly through Shopify, coming soon.44 On every platform the booking calendar is part of your own store and its own checkout, on your domain and in your theme.

TWICE’s own online store runs on a TWICE subdomain or your domain, with a theme editor, a dates filter and pick-up or delivery at checkout. Widgets, WordPress and Wix plugins or the API put it on another site; shoppers cannot sign in to an account.

The booking form is part of your own product pages, on your domain and in your theme, in every licence.

The difference: TWICE’s store is a separate hosted storefront with its own checkout, and TWICE takes 1.5% of the payments it processes. Sales Igniter’s booking form and checkout are part of your own store, with no commission.

Staff mark each unit as handed over or returned on the order, scanning unit codes in the browser, and a partial return shows unit by unit. There is no today screen: the day’s pickups, returns and late orders are saved views of the orders table.

There is no maintenance module. TWICE’s own guide builds one from unit attributes, a saved filter and maintenance reservations that block the unit, and repair costs land on each unit’s income and expenses.

TWICE’s list price for one location on the Standard tier, billed monthly, in TWICE’s own dollar conversion. Its 1.5% commission depends on your sales, so it is not in the totals, and each further location adds a monthly fee.2 TWICE counts users in your agreement rather than on its pricing page, so the TWICE line stays the same whatever you pick.12 Sales Igniter shows the price with the current promotion and the regular price; renewing updates each year is optional. Frequently asked questions

Does either one take a commission?

TWICE takes 1.5% of each payment processed through it on the Standard tier, and Stripe takes its own processing fee from the same payment.3 Sales Igniter takes no commission or booking fee: the only fee on a booking is your payment provider’s.

Does Sales Igniter charge per user or per location?

Not on WooCommerce or Magento 2: every licence includes unlimited admin accounts, products, customers and orders, with no charge per location. TWICE charges for each location every month, and its guides say users are counted in your agreement, with any extra settled with TWICE.12

Can I keep my WordPress or WooCommerce website?

Yes, with either one. TWICE’s WordPress plugin and widgets put its store and checkout on your pages.4 Sales Igniter is a WooCommerce plugin, so rentals use your own WooCommerce cart, checkout, payment gateways and customer accounts.

Can customers sign in to an account?

Not on TWICE’s own store: its documentation says shoppers cannot sign in, so there is no order history or saved details, and returning customers enter their details again at checkout.34 With Sales Igniter, customers use your store’s own accounts and see their past orders there.

Does it send pickup and return reminders?

TWICE has no built-in reminder for pickups or returns, and its guides suggest writing a custom email.27 Nothing flags a late return, so the guides suggest a saved view of orders past their end date.25 Sales Igniter sends pickup, return and overdue reminders by email, SMS or WhatsApp on WooCommerce (by email on Magento 2), and its Send & Return desk lists what is due today and overdue.

Is there a mobile app?

Neither has a native app. TWICE’s admin runs in the browser on any device, with nothing to download.5 Sales Igniter also runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer, and on Shopify, counter work happens in the Shopify POS app.

Is there a Shopify version?

Yes. Rentals & Bookings for Shopify is billed monthly or yearly through Shopify. It is coming soon, and its prices appear on this page at launch.
