Twice Commerce Alternative | Rental Software With No Commission

Twice Commerce, formerly Rentle, is a modern rental commerce platform with a genuinely attractive customer-facing experience. Its pricing, though, is built on two things rental operators tend to dislike once they scale: a commission on every payment, and a fee for every location you operate from.

What Twice Commerce does well

A comparison page that pretends the competitor is bad is not worth reading, so here is the honest version. Twice Commerce is a real product with real strengths:

  • Modern, consumer-grade booking experience that looks good out of the box.
  • A genuinely free entry tier, which is rare — useful for testing an idea.
  • Good fit for consumer rental and marketplace-style businesses.
  • Clean product design and a straightforward setup process.
  • Hosted, so there is no infrastructure for you to run.

Why rental businesses look for a Twice Commerce alternative

  • Commission on every payment. Even the free tier takes 1.5%. On $250,000 of annual rental revenue that is $3,750 a year for software that is nominally free.
  • Per-location fees. €199 per location per month means a three-depot operation pays roughly €7,164 a year before the plan fee.
  • The gap between tiers is enormous. €399 to €5,000 per location per month is a steep cliff with little in between.
  • Closed source and hosted. Your storefront, your customers and your order history live on their platform.
  • Paid migration. Getting data in costs €300–€2,000 in services; getting it out later is your problem.

Sales Igniter: the open-source Twice Commerce alternative

Sales Igniter is not a hosted service you rent. It is a rental booking engine that installs into a store you already own — either as the WooCommerce bookings and rentals plugin for WordPress, or as the Magento 2 rental booking extension for Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source. You buy it once, you get the complete source code, and it runs on your own hosting.

That is the whole difference in one sentence: with Twice Commerce you are renting software and your storefront lives on their infrastructure; with Sales Igniter you own the software and the storefront is your own website.

  • One-time licence, not a subscription. $279 for the Regular WooCommerce plugin, $419 for Pro. Support and updates are included for a year and renewable at $299/year — but the plugin keeps working whether you renew or not.
  • No commission, ever. No percentage of your bookings, no per-transaction cut, no revenue share. Your payment gateway’s fee is the only fee.
  • No per-user or per-location pricing. Unlimited admin accounts, unlimited products, unlimited customers and orders on every licence.
  • 100% open source. Readable PHP, JavaScript and MySQL. Any developer you hire can extend it — you are never waiting on a vendor roadmap for a feature your business needs.
  • It is your website. The booking calendar lives on your domain, in your theme, feeding your SEO and your analytics — not on a subdomain of somebody else’s platform.
  • Your data stays in your database. Customers, orders, contracts and card tokens sit in your own MySQL install. Nothing to export and nothing held hostage if you leave.

What it actually costs over five years

Subscription pricing is easy to underestimate because the number is small each month. Here is the same decision expressed as a five-year total, using published list prices as of August 2026.

OptionFive-year totalWhat drives the number
Sales Igniter WooCommerce Regular$279 (no renewals)No commission, no location fees
Sales Igniter WooCommerce Pro + renewals$1,615$419 once, then $299/year
Twice Self-service at $10,000/mo revenue$9,0001.5% commission on $600,000 of bookings
Twice Standard, one location€35,880€399/mo × 60 months, before commission
Twice Standard, one location + location fee€47,820Adds €199/mo location fee
Twice Standard, three locations€143,460€(399+199) × 3 × 60 months, before commission
List prices as published August 2026; excludes negotiated discounts, payment-gateway fees and applicable tax. Sales Igniter figures exclude web hosting, which you provide — typically $10–$40 a month on a standard WordPress host.

The free tier is the one worth thinking hardest about. It looks like nothing, but at $10,000 a month in rental revenue the 1.5% commission alone costs $9,000 over five years — more than five times a Sales Igniter licence with every annual renewal paid.

When Twice Commerce is the better choice

We would rather you buy the right thing than buy ours. Twice Commerce is genuinely the better fit in a few situations:

  • You are testing a rental idea and want to start at genuinely zero fixed cost — the free tier is a reasonable way to validate demand.
  • You want a consumer-facing rental marketplace look with no design work.
  • Your booking volume is low enough that percentage fees stay small.
  • You have no website and no wish to run one.

If none of those describe you — and especially if you already run a WordPress or Magento site and object to paying a subscription forever for software you never own — then it is worth thirty minutes of your time to look at Sales Igniter.

Frequently asked questions

How much commission does Sales Igniter take?

None. Not on the free-equivalent tier, not at scale, not ever. You pay once for the licence and keep 100% of what your customers pay you, less whatever your own payment gateway charges.

Do I pay more for additional locations?

No. Multi-location and multi-warehouse inventory is part of the product — Magento 2 uses Multi-Source Inventory to hold real stock levels per depot, branch or city on one calendar. There is no per-location licence fee.

Is Twice Commerce the same as Rentle?

Yes — Rentle rebranded as Twice Commerce. If you have been comparing Rentle alternatives, this is the same platform under a newer name.

What does migration from Twice Commerce involve?

Products, customers and order history export to spreadsheet and import into WooCommerce or Magento 2. Forward bookings usually need re-entering or scripting. We do not charge a migration services fee — talk to us about your catalogue size.
